Freelancers in Toronto and surrounding areas take note: there's a day-long seminar approaching that's designed to help you make the most of your skills and talents.

The Freelance Survival Series is scheduled for Wednesday September 25th from 9:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. in the auditorium of the Lillian H. Smith Public Library in Toronto. The event, which is being organized by the Canadian Media Guild Freelance Branch and their parent union CWA-Canada, will include sessions on pitching, social media, and radio freelancing.

Speakers include Toronto writer and blogger Alison Garwood-Jones, award-winning independent radio producer Chris Brookes, Social Media and Marketing Strategist Amanda Lynne Ballard, as well as writer/broadcaster and CMG Freelance Branch president Don Genova. An accountant and a CMG staff representative will also be on hand to answer all of your tax- and contract-related questions. Of course, the event will also offer a great opportunity for connecting with other freelancers and expanding your freelance support network.

If you're already a member of the Canadian Media Guild, this event is free (and includes lunch!). If you're not a CMG member, the cost of attending is $150, which will also give you a year-long membership to the CMG Freelance Branch. Space is limited, so hurry and register here.
